Award-winning author Louise Nealon joins us at Portarlington Library for a special event exploring her acclaimed novels Snowflake and Everything That Is Beautiful. In conversation with Helen Carroll, she will discuss the themes that shape her writing, including family, home, love, loss, and the often-complicated journey of becoming ourselves. This promises to be an engaging and thought-provoking discussion with one of Ireland's most exciting contemporary writers, followed by an audience Q&A.
Louise Nealon is a writer from Co. Kildare. Her debut novel, Snowflake, released in May 2021, won Newcomer of the Year at the An Post Book Awards and was chosen for the One Dublin One Book campaign in 2024. Her second novel, Everything that is Beautiful was published in April 2026 and became an instant Irish bestseller. She lives in Belfast.
Helen Carroll has produced, presented, reported and researched on national radio and television for both RTE and TV3. She is probably best known as a presenter on Ear to the Ground, RTE Television's Farming and Food programme. Her work in the print media has seen her write news, features, reviews and a weekly column for both local and national publications.
